Penn's Place Newest Artist

Penn’s Place is excited to introduce Phyllis, the artist of My Santas and Ken, the artist behind Snickers Ditch Trunk Co.
Phyllis is very well known for her beautiful hand-sculpted Santas. Life like faces and hands are expertly crafted with clay. Each Santa is decked out with clothing made from velvet, fur, and silks. Each piece has its own characteristics and charm.

Ken finds authentic steamer and doll trunks from the mid 1800s thru 1920s and refinishes them using original methods. He fusses over each piece bringing out all the beauty and charm. Antique accessories and beautiful quilts are created by his talented wife, Eileen.

Come meet Penn’s Place newest additions at 206 Delaware St. in Historic New Castle and add a one-of-a-kind piece of art to your collection.

Shop at Home

Skip the crowded malls and long lines with a private home showing of Kerry Elizabeth.
The holiday season seems to begin earlier and earlier each year. I was out and about just yesterday and found shoppers searching for their bargains and lining up at the cash wrap. I was amazed at how busy the stores were for a Monday afternoon! At Kerry Elizabeth we are kicking off the holiday season with private home showings.

November Birthstones

Happy Birthday to all the November babies! I'm sure most of you know your month's birthstone. Birthstones have been around since ancient times and believed to protect the owner and wearer of the stone.

November's birthstones are topaz and citrine. The two gemstones were commonly mistaken for each other, so jewelers decided upon both. The gemstones come in shades of brown, yellow, gold, and orange.

Citrine from www.colourlovers.com.

The November birthstones has an extensive list or properties:
1. Prevents colds and other diseases.
2. Strengthens breathing.
3. Controls angry passions.
4. Enhances creativity.
5. Increases understanding.
6. Brings relaxation.
7. Restores energy.
8. Helps in tissue regeneration.

Keep this in mind when purchasing topaz or citrine jewelry. The more intense the color, the more valuable to stone.

Online Holiday Shopping

The holiday season is right around the corner.
Follow these tips for a safe online shopping experience.

Keep a Record. Save or print a confirmation of your transaction.
Find a Phone Number. If you find a phone number you can be sure the company is committed to customer service.
Never Buy From Spammers.Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Verify an Item's Value.  If a manufacturer is selling something well below the market value, something is probably wrong.
Use Credit Cards. Debit cards typically have limited fraud-tracking capabilities.
Get a Temporary Credit Card Number. Many credit card companies allow customers to generate temporary credit card numbers that you can use just once or revoke at any time. Companies that offer this service include MBNA, Citibank, and Discover.
Check for Security. Don't enter any information into an online form unless you are certain that the Web site is secure.
Never Give Personal Data. You should never be asked for your SSN or other personal information.
Read the Fine Print.  Most reputable companies will post their privacy policy in an easy-to-read place on the site.
Act Responsibly. Your online and offline behavior should be generally the same.
